SOCWA's 3A Plant was awarded the Plant of the Year Award for the small treatment plant category (less than 5 MGD) by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) local section, Santa Ana River Basin Section (SARBS).

The SARBS Selection Committee recognized the 3A Plant's accomplishments over the past several years such as its outstanding compliances results, innovative operational practices and accomplishments such as energy conservation measures, elimination of weekend staffing and a number of operational improvements.   Improved management systems, like an updated SCADA system, were also cited as reasons for the award.

The 3A Treatment Plant will now compete for the CWEA state-wide Plant of the Year Award during the annual conference in April.
